Marcia
Gibson-Watt, BA, born Marcia Cary in 1949 in Chelsea, London, is
a graduate of Kingston Art College where she specialized in Graphic
Design. She also studied life drawing in Florence at Studio Simi.
Since her marriage to Robin in 1971, she has lived and worked in
Wales; they have four children and three grandchildren.
She has exhibited
in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition on several occasions, most
recently in 1998. She has sold many large landscapes and flower
paintings in Wales as well as all over the world. She has also specialized
in miniatures and Dolls House micro-miniatures. A
varied selection of printed cards and postcards of her work are

At varying stages
of her career, she has designed wallpaper patterns for Laura Ashley;
provided wall paintings for a major Welsh hotel; designed the labels
for an English vineyard and a vineyard in the Nappa Valley, California.
She regularly receives private commissions, requests for paintings
for presentations and auctions in aid of charity, and has illustrated
a prayer book with the churches of Radnorshire. Some of the originals
are now on display in Llandrindod Wells Museum.
She has travelled
widely to the USA, Russia, India, Nepal, Kashmir, Sri Lanka, Norway
and recently Romania and Italy. Her work is characterized by an
impressionist approach, using varying techniques with rich colours,
soft pastels on acrylic, creating an evocative feel for her subject.
She has been invited to exhibit at the Memphis Botanic Gardens,
Tennessee, USA from May 1st until June 16th 2003, showing a range
of work from the past ten years.
